Room Reveal: Del Mar Cape

We have been working on the most adorable cedar shake cape here in Del Mar.  I instagramed this teaser when we were in the development stage. Amymeierdesign_s_lr detailAnd here is the completed space:

The space was intended to be a multipurpose room, the hub of activity for this busy young family.  And so, we wanted to embrace its purposefulness: allowing for energetic activity, while also soothing for when life calls for rest.   And true to its intent, the room now hosts family for casual movie nights, friends for fancy holiday cocktail parties, and occasionally chickens... for God knows what.

Clearly, durability was crucial, but without sacrificing beauty.  It became more about texture and subtle prints, with a palate consisting of gradations of grey and cream that created depth and warmth.  The beautiful Rose Tarlow window treatments acts as the backdrop to the subtle textural fabrics on the sofa and chairs.  And acting as anchor: the show-stopping, custom, oversized, quartz coffee table; just look at the stunning, stormy veining.

I love how there can be such strength in rooms, while also such delicacy.  Watching over the room, above the fireplace sits a custom piece of art, a sweet painting of their children that we worked with the wife to have commissioned to surprise her husband.
